MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
Qualified for the World Championships in Hawaii!
I had a good swim leg. I knew a small group would swim away and that they would be too fast. I came out of the water with the large second group.
On the bike, I stuck to my own plan. I knew I had to remain patient.
I have worked hard on my running over the last few months and trusted in a good marathon. The first few kilometers felt so easy that I had to hold myself back from running too fast. I saw them fading ahead of me and kept believing I could secure a Kona spot. After 33 km, I moved into 5th place and still felt good. The last 4 km were a struggle against cramping in my hamstring, but luckily I had enough space to slow down a bit. Marathon pb: 2:42
Since I started with triathlon, it has always been my dream to race in Kona as a pro. Eight years ago, when I began triathlon, it seemed impossible, and now it has come true! Thanks to my coaches @guido.vroemen and @guidohartensveld
I want to thank everyone who has supported me over the past years. Without you, this would never have been possible!
